Ian Stapleton brings almost 20 years of fight directing and teaching experience to this entirely hands-on practical workshop Learn how to perform stage combat without weapons, both as an agressor and a victim with equal emphasis on the technical and artistic elements of Violence for Actors.
This workshop is aimed at performers, directors, teachers and youth theatre leaders. No previous experience is necessary, and even qualified actor-combatants will find Ian's artist-centric approach informative and helpful.

Specialist Youth Theatre Workshops  
Suitable for Youth theatre groups and schools, these sessions typically run between an hour and a half to three hours. They are designed to give participants a broad working knowledge of stage combat techniques, and a chance to practice them. Longer sessions also allow time for the participants to exercise their imagination and create their own fight scenes.

  • Available with swords or unarmed combat.

  • Sessions always end with a brief Q&A and if necessary demonstration.
  • Participants are welcome to bring along their own projects to work on.
  • Disabled participants and groups especially welcome.


  British Academy of Dramatic Combat Certification Courses
The British Academy of Dramatic Combat tests are the industry standard for actors, and represent important steps on the road to becoming an actor-combatant, fight director, or stage combat teacher. Stunt Performers often find stage combat useful.
  • Courses are available for all BADC Levels (Foundation to Advanced).
  • Each course lasts 5 days and requires a venue.
  • All courses can be run for up to 22 participants.
